摘要Abstract

Since 2009, China’s capital markets have to an unprecedented degree become both more liberalised and more connected to regional and global capital markets. It is argued that this integration process is characterised through the construction of a networked financial infrastructure between financial centres, by creating connections between capital markets through take-overs, forming alliances, cross-listing products or linking platforms.

But the integration of China into global markets is not a mere technocratic process, it is a contested and political process of institution building, involving competition, cooperation and power. This lecture explores the role of exchanges and their interplay with state institutions in the politics of integrating China into global capital markets as well as the challenges and opportunities that arise in this process.
